Application industries

In 2012-15, in cooperation with the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas and the Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics of the National Research University Higher School of Economics, mineral layers were studied on parts and simulators of oil and gas equipment parts. Scientific and research works "Conducting comparative tests to assess the wear resistance of the threaded connection of pumping and compression pipes", "Investigation of the mechanical properties of the bushing surface after the application of mineral coating", "Determination of the wear resistance of coatings in the sliding friction" allowed to determine some properties of mineral layers, to test the application of the technology on complex surfaces.

The results obtained in the course of research, for example, provide pipe manufacturers using mineral coating technology with an opportunity to improve the quality of pipes and couplings and to actively compete with other manufacturers, both in the domestic and global markets. In particular, couplings with a hardening mineral coating have the maximum rate of wear is more than an order of magnitude less than that of couplings without a coating, and hardening mineral coating increases the wear resistance of threaded joints to wear loads in 2.5-3.0 times and can provide a predicted number of cycles of screwing-unscrewing up to 100 cycles.

The technology of creation of mineral coatings developed by SPC Mineral coating technologies (NPO Geoenergetika) allows you to create mineral coatings on parts that work well:

  • at high temperatures up to 1300 (degrees) C;
  • at thermocyclic loads over a wide temperature range;
  • in an atmosphere of abrasive dust from metal particles and high hardness abrasive;
  • aggressive media of salt spray, hydrogen sulphide, water vapor, acids.

All these factors increase the fatigue strength of drilling tools and enable the successful application of mineral coating technology in the oil and gas industry.

In order to select mineral coatings for friction pairs of different parts, a rational cycle of tribological tests is used, which makes it possible to accelerate the prediction of the necessary parameters of friction pairs and friction units as a whole.

Using mineral coating technology we are ready to significantly increase the service life of parts operating in conditions of high temperature, acid, water vapor, metal abrasive dust, creating wear-resistant mineral coatings on parts of drilling pumps, threaded joints of pipes of different diameters, parts of drilling tools and isolation valves.
